The greatest challenge that we face as Educationists is to bring about a shift in the thought process of parents, grandparents and teachers regarding education and its role in a human’s life. How important education can be to build a harmonious society!
When we think of all the challenges the humans have faced at the hands of nature, culture and colour and all other differences that exist, and how most humans have reacted to them, we see that in the world of literates education has failed to “Educate”. The education that we have received has failed to stop a person from eating out of the money meant for the relief of tsunami victims. Education has failed because some doctors have become businessmen negotiating with lives. Hospitals have become money making machines, politicians and leaders become corrupt, ordinary people have turned into terrorists and so many other things have happened that were not meant to be this way. Today Education is considered only a way of earning a livelihood, once a child attains adulthood. It is the ticket to one’s success in the world of competitors. The focus is only earning well.
Education offers learning for one’s own life and not to outsmart someone else. What is of interest to one child need not necessarily interest another. We need to help parents overcome the mob mentality. Education does not mean competition; it means excellence, mastery and perfection in what is learnt. Education is to acquire mastery over one’s natural acumen like art, music, dance, science, arithmetic, history, literature and so on; this understood one will surely excel in life. When a human is allowed to follow his/her natural inner desire, there automatically is a fire within that propels the person towards their passion. It has been proven time and again that only such free souls have left marks on the pages of history.
The demands of education can no longer be met through the age old rote learning method, therefore, the school has brought in innovation by setting each child on the path of self learning, enabling him / her to learn long after the hours and years of schooling are over. In the days to come, communication skills, creativity and individual thinking will be the most sought after talents. All this can flourish only in a free environment. Pebble Creek equips its students with all the necessary skills that are needed to succeed in a challenging world.
Keeping this in mind ‘Pebble Creek Education Society’ was founded on 24 May 2005 and thereafter we started the school in the summer of 2005 with just 6 students. Today the school is proud to have worked with over 300 children closely, bringing about a true and consistent change in them.
A child’s schooling is a partnership between the parent and the teacher. Therefore to make schooling a valuable experience we have to work together towards the single goal – the Child.
